Jacking & Rig Move Fundamentals

Purpose of Jacking and Rig Move
This five-day course is designed to provide offshore personnel with a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice behind safe jacking and rig move operations for jack-up rigs. Delivered through a combination of classroom instruction and realistic simulator-based exercises, the course focuses on developing critical decision-making skills, operational planning, risk awareness, and team communication. Participants will gain the competence to carry out complex rig movements and jacking procedures in various offshore environments, preparing them for real-world challenges with greater confidence and control.

Training Scenarios
Throughout the course, participants will take part in immersive, simulator-based scenarios that mirror the complexities of real offshore operations. These include full rig move sequences, from initial approach and anchoring to jacking up on final location. You’ll experience dynamic seabed conditions, such as soft soils and rapid penetration, and be challenged to make safe, time-critical decisions under pressure. The training also covers communication and coordination between rig crew and anchor-handling vessels, with emphasis on leadership and situational awareness.
Additional scenarios include heavy lift planning and crane operations during rig transit, managing the effects of torque on legs, and responding to unexpected events such as stuck legs or RPD (Rack Phase Difference) issues. Emergency response is a central focus, with simulations designed to test how participants react to high-risk situations while maintaining control, ensuring crew safety, and protecting the asset.
