Purpose of HSI Adult First Aid CPR AED BBP

Who is it for?

This course is ideal for employees, contractors, and anyone who may need to respond to first aid situations in the workplace or community, particularly in high-risk industries.

Assessment:

Participants are evaluated through practical demonstrations and instructor-led performance checks, focusing on CPR, AED use, and first aid scenarios.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised HSI certification in Adult First Aid, CPR, AED, and BBP. Valid for 2 years from the date of issue.

Course content

First aid essentials and injury response

Covers bleeding control, shock management, burns, fractures, poisoning, head injuries, and treatment of common wounds.

CPR and AED application

Teaches high-quality chest compressions, CPR techniques with and without a mask, and safe use of an automated external defibrillator.

Bloodborne pathogens and universal precautions

Focuses on recognising exposure risks, PPE use, control measures, and safe response procedures in line with OSHA guidelines.

Medical emergencies and conditions

Includes care for stroke, seizures, diabetes, breathing issues, allergic reactions, opioid emergencies, and altered mental status.

Environmental emergencies

Prepares you to manage heat stroke, hypothermia, frostbite, bites and stings, and marine-related injuries.

Hands-on practical skills training

Reinforces learning with demonstrations and instructor-evaluated practice of CPR, AED, bleeding control, and allergic response.
