Situation

DOF required a structured and reliable approach to assess crane operations on board the OSV while operating in Angolan waters. Their lifting activities take place in complex offshore environments where consistency, precision, and safe execution are essential.

To maintain high operational standards, DOF needed a G5 Offshore Crane Assessment delivered directly on board with minimal impact on vessel activities. The assignment required an instructor who could integrate smoothly with the crew, communicate clearly, and maintain strong safety focus throughout the assessment period. Conducting a comprehensive onboard assessment, reduces the risk of uneven operator performance, improves operational readiness, and increases safety and efficiency outcomes.

Solution

Through our Managed Services (Training Management Solutions), we coordinated and executed the full logistics and delivery of this assignment. We deployed our Crane Instructor in October 2025 to deliver a full G5 Offshore Crane Assessment onboard DOF’s OSV.

Working in a live operational environment, our Crane Instructor collaborated closely with the lifting team and vessel leadership, observing real crane operations and providing targeted feedback that aligned with DOF’s operational requirements. Throughout the assignment, our instructor demonstrated a constructive attitude, strong listening skills, disciplined execution, clear communication, and a consistent focus on safety. This approach ensured the assessment process was structured, transparent, and concluded to a high standard.

The assessment strengthened operational confidence onboard the vessel by giving crane operators clear performance insights and reinforcing safe lifting practices grounded in real offshore activity.
